  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup whole milk

Method
 

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  3. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the batter.
  4. Pour batter into prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  5. Bake until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely before serving or decorating.
